PROGRAMS The association provides various services and programs to youth, communities, and schools. To schedule a program presentation, email us at a.ortiz-luis@y4pc.org. Student-to-Student Assistance Programs These two core programs allow student participants to undertake a therapeutic vocational guidance training experience that will prepare them to be social service professionals. Students will assist their peers in diffusing conflict and manage adverse situations. Peer Mediation(Conflict Resolution) Peer Mediators undergo an experiential training program that will equipped them with the tools and techniques to become conflict mediators. Most conflicts in school campuses occur because schools do not teach students how to handle conflict and how to manage their emotions. Peer Mediators provide an opportunity for disputants, a neutral third party, which will actively listen to both sides, redirect communication, identify pseudo conflicts, and determine concluding perceptions. Students are provided with another avenue to address misunderstanding and differences amongst each other. Peer Counseling Peer Counselors take a more rigorous commitment to assist their peers by committing to twice the training program hours required for a Peer Mediator. Peer Counselors act as ‘big brothers or big sisters’ to incoming freshmen. The 9th grade is the most critical year in determining success or failure in high school. Therefore, Peer Counselors provide supplemental social and academic support to guidance counselors. Peer Counselors reinforce positive social academic behaviors that will lead to academic success.

School sites are able to recoup lost Average Daily Attendance (ADA) due to suspensions. The program has a 97% recidivism rate which means only 3% of students return for a second seminar. Workshops are facilitated by therapists, para-professionals, college students, and community leaders. Students receive strategies and techniques to avoid the at-risk behaviors.
